A statement from the Superintendent: Plainview ISD is aware of the situation that recently happened at the PHS boys basketball game with our cheerleaders. We are looking into this why occurred and fully support our cheerleaders to be on the court cheering our teams on. Thank you.

Yesterday our admin was checking out the Bulldog store and came out with some new merch to wear! Last night we were also able to present at the board meeting, some of our new gear. We cannot wait to open it to the public very soon! Those beanies will be great stocking stuffers!!

Last night, we had the privilege of celebrating some outstanding achievements during the board meeting. Here are the highlights: Agricultural Science Cade Pinkerton achieved National Proficiency Finalist status in Diversified Crop Production. The Ag Issues LDE Team and the Senior Skills LDE Team are advancing to Area competitions! Hannah Garcia earned the Reserve Breed Champion title at the Texas State Fair. TCFA Certification Congratulations to Teacher Benjamin Stokes and his students for earning their certifications through the TCFA Feed Yard Technician Program: Daniel Aguilar, Payteon Alvarez, Braeson Ballesteros, Diego Bueno, Zachary Ortega, Jorge Ramirez, Jovanny Reyes, Uriel Rodriguez, and Anthony Woodson. This program equips high school seniors with essential skills and knowledge for potential careers in the fed cattle industry, including certification in Machinery Operation, Repair, and Maintenance provided by the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. Cross Country: Coach Kylie Middleton had her team recognized for their performance and dedication to Cross Country this season. Both Teams placed 3rd in District and also made it to the Regional Meet. Tennis David Webb, our Tennis Coach, earned District 3-5A Coach of the Year! Carson Kayler, a junior, received District 3-5A All-District Honorable Mention for #2 Boys Singles. Tennis received 6th out of 9 teams in District this year. In our district 4 teams are ranked in the state. We are so proud of these incredible individuals and teams for their hard work, achievements, and representation of Plainview ISD. Keep shining, Bulldogs!

🌟 Exciting Lab Opportunity for Our AP Biology Students! 🧪🔬 This past Tuesday, 11/12, our AP Biology students had an incredible hands-on experience thanks to Wayland Baptist University and their “Noyce Grant” initiative, which promotes Science and Math education majors. Our students were invited into the lab to create samples for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology—a cutting-edge technique! The goal? To identify what kind of tuna is used in Subway sandwiches. 🍣🥪 By the end of the evening, they had real data in hand and engaged in insightful conversations about their findings and the scientific process. Opportunities like these not only make learning fun but also inspire the next generation of scientists. Big thanks to Wayland and Coach Amanda Martin's Class for making this possible! 🌟👏

Plainview Intermediate Scholars Walk Their Way to Health with “Strong Teens Healthy Schools” Texas A&M AgriLife Extension has partnered with Plainview Intermediate School to promote student health through an initiative called Strong Teens Healthy Schools. Throughout the year, all Plainview Intermediate scholars will engage in activities designed to support healthy habits, but over the past six weeks, fifth-grade scholars took on an exciting challenge as part of the Walk Across Texas program. The goal for fifth-grade scholars? To collectively walk 832 miles, the distance between Houston and El Paso. Each week, 280 5th Grade scholars in PE classes 1, 2, 4, and 5 tallied their steps, and the team with the highest mileage earned a healthy incentive, such as pedometers or jump ropes, to keep them motivated to stay active and eat healthily. Dr. Shawnte Clawson and Ms. Olivia Sommerfeld, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension educators, Hale County, added to the program’s success by leading weekly lessons on nutrition and hosting engaging physical activities. On Friday, November 15, 2024, scholars celebrated their achievements at a wrap-up event where parents joined their child’s PE class to help meet the final mileage goals. The celebration featured cardio drumming, walking, running, and plenty of enthusiasm from scholars and parents alike. Thanks to the support of Principal Alcozer, PE coaches Cornett, McKee, and Gutierrez, along with the participation of families, each class successfully reached their mileage goal. The program not only emphasized the importance of physical activity but also underscored the value of community involvement in health initiatives. Plainview Intermediate’s health journey continues as scholars strive to build lifelong healthy habits.
